Lead Product Designer

Steven-MadsenSteven is the lead product designer and in-house sketching ninja. He manages projects as the principal member of the design team. His wide-ranging experience with user-research, service design, ergonomics, UX/ UI, product definition, and assembly strategy enable him to add a designer’s considered touch to every stage of the development process.

Steven has lead major product development, UX/ UI, and service design initiatives of diagnostic instruments, surgical and therapeutic devices, infant care, and houseware products for clients including: Abbott Point of Care, BD Medical, CooperSurgical, Edgewell Personal Care, GE Healthcare, Halyard Health (Kimberly-Clark), Hamilton Beach, Jarden/NUK, OXO, Playtex, Siemens Medical, Teledyne LeCroy, and many others.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Industrial Design from Brigham Young University. He was IDSA’s prestigious Western District Student Merit Winner in 2010. A serial learner, Steven’s background also includes arduino, electronics design, illustration, psychology, writing, and economics. More recently, he taught design at NYU’s School of Professional Studies. Prior to joining the ION team, Steven was a designer at Rocketship, and interned at Ethicon Endo-Surgery (J&J), 4Sight, and Aspen Medical Products.
