This creates unique development challenges as products must be rugged to withstand abusive handling, sealed against harsh environments, and comfortable to use or wear – while still being reliable.
The application of human factors or ergonomics is especially critical to the design of products that are often handled, worn on the head, or require mission-critical user interactions. As devices become more sophisticated and complex, the user interfaces (physical buttons and/or screen) that drive them must become even more simple and intuitive to use.
