Used in emergency response situations for the rapid detection of food and water borne pathogens, the M1M needed to perform in the field as well as the lab. We developed a very simple construction scheme consisting of a rugged, two-piece housing with exposed fasteners for easy assembly and maintenance. The deceptively simple form includes strategically placed recessed surfaces to protect the more delicate features. Extremely easy to use, with a single button, the M1M is refined enough for the lab yet tough enough to survive a parachute drop.
